All 18 holes of this island golf have views of the ocean – some with glimpses across clearings through the trees; others by coming close to the shore. The unique island golf course of Ile aux Cerfs is definitely one of the most stupendous golf courses in the world, a “must play” as Colin Montgomerie puts it. Designed by golfing icon and former world number one Ernie Els, Anahita Golf Club is one of Mauritius's most celebrated and internationally acclaimed courses. Unveiled in 2008, the 18-hole course was crafted to blend seamlessly into its natural surroundings, with sprawling fairways stretching along the coastline and numerous holes offering breathtaking vistas of the crystalline turquoise lagoon. Built to meet international standards and drawing on Els's extensive experience across courses worldwide, Anahita appeals to golfers of all skill levels — a feast for the eyes as much as a genuine challenge. The course has also earned its place on the professional circuit, most notably hosting the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, where rising French star Matthieu Pavon secured a remarkable second-place finish in 2018. Pavon has since named Anahita as one of his favourite destinations for both leisure and golf — a testament to the enduring appeal of a course where world-class design meets one of the Indian Ocean's most stunning natural settings.
